Happy Punctuation Day!
National Punctuation Day is in September. Whether you're a little early or late, thanks for coming here to celebrate!

I'm not sure what visiting this web page says about you....curious....word nerd....grammar geek....? Well, I'm all that, and I welcome you. Enjoy this very brief diversion from the hard work you do each day to bring sound and compelling information to your audiences.

I've put together just a few brief features to entertain and inform:
  • First: A few punctuation day photos from my travels this summer. See all three, with my favorite last in the list.
  • Next up: A puzzling post I received this week, just in time for Punctuation Day!
  • Finally: Some books on the topic. Just the names will entertain.
Hope you enjoy. And if you'd like to share your own observed, humorous punctuation and grammar gaffs for next year's celebrations, please contact me.

SHSMD Punctuation Day
A shortage of apostrophes, no doubt. But, also, I took this in Chicago....
SHSMD Punctuation Day Apostrophe
The target of apostrophe-lessness is indiscriminate.
RunsGoodPunctuationDay
So much so wrong in so few words--but we've at least found one source of the apostrophe shortage. (My daughter actually spotted this, and we turned our car around to bring this to you.)

Trying so hard to be helpful . . .

The Punctuation Day treat below is straight from a web forum just this week, in answer to my question about replacing my burned out car headlight. It deserves an A++ for effort and, surprisingly, even an A+ for spelling, but . . . the direct quote:

"If remember it's everything a very straight forward. I was removing for RTV sealing at the edge of it. So you have LED of there I guess, because I have just simple bulbs. I removed all right with the socket and bulb, but remember I have to disconnected the only one connector, because is not enough space to turn it out the light assembly. Then couple nuts for light assembly, I remember one nut is hidden very good, it's like inside at the edge of lift gate, if I'm right."

Actual quote. Just this week. Really.

My headlight's still out.
